Lady Fortuna is a collection of three nonfiction short stories and a bonus chapter from My Paradise Lost, all written by Brian W Allen. The first, Jungle Joyride is about a delinquent misadventure by a bored teenager on a dark tropical night. The second, The Essential ABCs, is the experience of a young man fighting death as a member of a Code Blue team. The Third, The Bequest, follows a son as he fulfills the last wishes of his mother and father. There is a bonus story, Coco Solo Coconut, the first chapter of My Paradise Lost, Misadventures to manhood in the Panama Canal Zone. It is the introduction of a boy to his new life in the unique environs of the Panama Canal Zone. Each short story was selected for publication by Washburn University’s literary journal, INSCAPE Magazine. INSCAPE submissions are blind judged by English majors and the best are published. Very touching stories that perfectly capture life in the Panama Canal Zone, where I grew up. The story of Brian spreading his parents' ashes in an idyllic location made me cry.
Such life experiences presented in an interesting way. My curiosity made me want to know what will happen. Good job.
